Land Acknowledgement Poem

We live on the land of the ancestors,

But it was not given; it was stolen

Without concern by the colonizers.

Unthinkable harm, a culture broken.

The resilience and resistance shown

By the Indigenous communities

Allowed for their culture to be regrown

Embracing individualities. 

Now it falls to the uninvited guests

To do the work, learning and unlearning. 

The Calls to Action are not faint requests,

They are requirements for equal standing. 

We move forward together with respect,

And kindness to have the greatest effect.
